ACDA-MI Fall Conference Treble Choir UPDATE

ACDA – Michigan Fall Treble Choir

High School, College and Community Choirs

**Updated Information – July 10**

The  2023 ACDA Michigan Conference will feature a statewide, multigenerational Treble Voice Choir featuring  high school, college and community treble voiced singers. The choir will be conducted by Pearl Shangkuan, Director of Choral Activities at Calvin University and President-Elect for the National American Choral Directors Association.

The goal of this fall choir is to bring together treble voice singers who enjoy making music together and sharing the journey with like minded musicians. Full treble voiced ensembles, selected members of an ensemble or individual singers may participate. Having balanced sections is necessary so directors are asked to include equal numbers of Sopranos I & II and Altos I & II.

Regional rehearsals will be held to bring participating singers together to make sure music is learned and ready for final rehearsals prior to working with Dr. Shangkuan. Depending on schedules and rehearsal locations, the regional rehearsals are expected to be held the week of October 2 and must be completed by October 8. Final rehearsals will occur on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21 in Mt. Pleasant with the concert performance at  3:00 PM on Saturday, October 21st at Central Michigan University’s Staples Family Hall.

Repertoire for the choir is as follows:

“Let All the World in Every Corner Sing” –  Andrea Ramsey; SSA, Alliance

“Let Me Listen” – Dan Forrest;  SSAA DF1023, available from Beckenhorst Press

“All the Way Home” – Sarah Quartel;  SSA, Oxford University Press

“Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal” – arr. Mark Hayes; SSA, Lorenz Corporation

While a preliminary survey has been completed regarding interest in this project, all participating choirs/individuals will need to complete the official registration form in early September. The link for registration will be posted here on the ACDA-Michigan website. In order to underwrite some of the costs associated with this activity, there will be a $10/singer fee and will be collected in the final registration form.
