Summer Reading

Summer is the perfect time for choral directors to savor an entertaining and informative read by none other than our own Robert C. Oster, otherwise known as “Dr. Bob.” What a fun title! – Singers, Zingers, and Humdingers: Choral Conductor Do’s and Don’ts! You will chuckle and occasionally shake your head as you recognize yourself, your students and your administrators in Bob’s insightful and humorous recollections.  That by itself is reason enough to enjoy this tome, but Bob delivers added value with practical and pragmatic strategies for dealing with the situations we all find ourselves in. No surprise that he was MSVMA Teacher of the Year and three-time State Honor’s Choir Director!

There is something for everyone, not just public school directors, but  also community and church choir directors; not just seasoned conductors, but neophytes, as well. As Bob explains, “When I retired in 2009 I wanted to write a real-life, down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-really-is book on the various aspects of being a choral conductor, both in and out of the public schools.” He has succeeded.
You will enjoy the reading as much as he obviously enjoyed the writing! To order your copy, contact Robert Oster at scholss102publishing@gmail.com.
