First United Methodist Church, 5005 Chicago Road, Warren, MI  48092.

Cantata Academy Chorale periodically accepts experienced adult singers in all vocal ranges.  Auditions can be scheduled for Sunday, August 28, 2011 (or another date by appointment) by calling the Cantata Academy Chorale office at (313) 242-7282 for an audition time. The Chorale, now beginning its 51st season, is an auditioned adult chorus of approximately 40 singers performing throughout Southeast Michigan.  Each year it produces its own subscription concert series and hires out to orchestras, churches, and other concert series.  The Cantata Academy Chorale has appeared with every major orchestra in the metropolitan Detroit area, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.  In addition, from 1973 through 2005, the Chorale has made biennial tours to Europe.  Plans for the next EuroTour are underway.

The Chorale’s Music Director and Conductor is Susan Catanese, a gifted and experienced choral conductor recently retired from Chippewa Valley Schools, where she was named Outstanding High School Educator of the Year for Macomb County. Susan has thrice served as State Honors Choir Director and has received numerous awards for excellence in choral music. She is also a former associate director and chamber choir director of the Madrigal Chorale of Southfield. Ms. Catanese has served on the Executive Board of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, which elected her Michigan’s Outstanding Vocal Music Teacher of the Year. Ms. Catanese currently serves on the Full Board of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA-Mi) as the Community Choir chair.  Ms. Catanese received a Bachelor of Music Education from Aquinas College (Grand Rapids, MI) and a Master of Music Education from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI).  Susan, a Clinton Township resident, has previously conducted choirs in concert with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Cincinnati Ballet Company, Warren Symphony Orchestra, Macomb Symphony Orchestra, Josh Groban, and the Barenaked Ladies.  Ms. Catanese has conducted the Cantata Academy Chorale since July 2010.
