Call for Maynard Klein Submissions from Dr. Amon Eady

With the advent of MMC just around the corner, your Michigan ACDA Executive Board have been working diligently to get details for our 2026 Fall Conference out earlier, so that all choral directors in the state of Michigan will have ample opportunity to attend. As part of the over-arching theme of “Homecoming” we wish to embrace with this year’s concert theme, we have made a change to the Maynard Klein Award nomination process to accurately reflect our values and cast an even wider net to encompass the greats of choral music in the state of Michigan.

The Maynard Klein Award Nominations and voting will be open to all ACDA-MI members.

Please take some time to review our past recipients of the award and the history of the award on our website. Recipients of the Maynard Klein Award embody artistic excellence and a lifetime of leadership in the field of choral music for the state of Michigan. This award is named in honor of Maynard Klein, whose musical achievements established a model of choral artistry and scholarship acclaimed within our state and nation. Nominations for this honorable award will be February 15, 2026 at 11:59PM.

Nominations will be reviewed by members of the board, and then a form will eligible recipients will be sent out to Michigan ACDA General Membership for voting. Bios and headshots will be provided for each potential recipient. The voting ballot will open March 1, 2026, and will close April 15.

By giving our Michigan directors a voice in the nomination and voting of our next Maynard Klein Award recipient, we recommit ourselves as an organization to advocate for excellency in choral music.

Sincerely,

Amon Eady

Past-President, 2026
