Job Description:
The Fortis Academy in Ypsilanti, MI is seeking a K-5 General Music Teacher to start immediately. This position is responsible for planning, developing and presenting organized learning opportunities for Music students in accordance with approved curriculum and State standards for grades K-5. The teacher will prepare lesson plans, use data driven instruction to gauge student learning, maintain a welcoming, safe and attractive classroom environment, and establish high standards of student behavior.
Qualifications:
Teachers will be held accountable for teaching Michigan state Music standards, establishing relationships with both students and parents, and participating in all aspects of class and school planning. We are seeking candidates that are reliable and punctual in reporting for scheduled work in order to provide continuity and stability in the classroom. Candidates should be self starters with effective classroom management skills, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for education. All candidates must have a valid Michigan license to teach K-12 Music (JX or JQ endorsement). Novice and experienced teachers are welcome to apply. Choral Scholar Positions
Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Detroit, Michigan announces immediate openings for the Metropolitan Singers Choral Scholar Program (SATB).
The Metropolitan Singers program is developed to give student singers in the greater Detroit area a leadership role in Worship services through presenting the finest in sacred choral music. The focus of the Metropolitan Singers is to lead choral sections of the Chancel Choir, study and perform music from various eras and cultural traditions, in an historic worship setting and community committed to excellence in Sacred Music.
Applications
The Metropolitan Singers Choral Scholar Program is an auditioned, salaried and yearly renewable appointment. There is no set day for the Metropolitan Singers auditions. Instead they will be held by individual appointment and coincide with an interview. To this end, auditions are held in February of each year with final decisions made no later than March 1 with first rehearsal set for March 6 2008.
